Cambodia
the country of the Kmer people and the world heritage monument Angkor Wat
We flew with Qatar through Doha to Bangkonk(5hours). It was the cheapest ticket from Greece.
Bangkok ......All the way to Sihakounville!
We took a taxi to the bus station(Ekami Bus Station) and we took the bus to Trat and then taxi to the borders (taxi 2people 550Baht) Colourful taxis!
Crosssing borders is one of my favourite part of a trip, I think I have mentioned that many times already! It can be easy or really difficult, fun or frustrating, it's all about
being well informed and very careful.
Well time to cross borders!...Let me tell you about the Thai/Cambodian borders.
As soon as we got off the taxi, around 6-7 young men gathered all around us persistently offered to help us and taxi us to the office window. We walked there, got the forms from the officials and sat at the table there to fill them in.OF course they offered to filled them in for us in case we did them wrong and kept on chatting the whole time baggering us with questions like ''Where you from'' Why are you travelling alone?'' and so on...Nothing to be afraid about cause Nothing will every happen to you. They just want to make some extra cash out of tourists. KIndly ignore them and fill in the form yourself and hand it in back to the office.
We were approached by taxi drivers offering good prices to take us to Sihakounville but we insisted on taking us to the bus station to continue our road trip. Bus tickets 60.000Riad each and not 20$ the tai driver asked for.
We left our stuff at the hostel and we went for a walk...didn't go very far though since it was already dark. We were so excited! Our first night in Cambodia!
Next morning we arranged for a tuk-tuk to pick us up to go the station. We checked in and off to the beach. Amazing places for dinner or dringks! NIce nightlife with a few bars with loud music and lots of drunk westerners but still so nice!
Next day a short cruise to the islands! Paradise on earth!
