Paxos and Antipaxos Islands

The two gems in the Ionian Sea,Paxos and Antipaxos islands, are worth exploring for its beauty and history. Surrounded by turquoise waters, scattered picturesque villages, quiet coves, pine trees, good food and nice people. According to the Greek legend, the island of Paxos used to be the romantic hideaway of Poseidon. He created this lillte island by hitting Corfu with his trident and piece of land that came apart is today the island of Paxos.

Paxos, the smallest of the Ionian island is located 8 nautical miles off the mainland and 7nautical miles from Corfu.

Access from Igoumenista Port in northwest part of Greece or from Corfu. There are also daily boat trips from Parga, a holiday resort on the west coast of the mainland, 12 nautical miles away from Paxos.

Gaios and the island itself is considered to be a cosmopolitan and a rather expensive destination. The outstanding beauty of the island, the lush green countryside, the quaint little villages and the enchanting beaches make it a must-visit island of the Ionian sea.So if you are on a low budget, all you need is to plan ahead, pick a low season and make it your next destination.

I

Gaios

Gaios is the capital of the island of Paxos and it's a beautiful bay naturally protected by two islets, the Panagia and Agios Nicolas one.

There excellent choice of restaurants cafes and bars and nearby beaches.Gaios is one of the most romantic places I've ever seen.

The harbour is around 15min walk from Gaios and a beautiful walk along the seafront. There's always the choice of taxis if you don't want to walk.

Lakka

Lakka is a naturally protected bay of amazing beauty. The beautiful village overlooks the bay and its calm turquoise waters makes it a unique place to visit. It is situated at the north part of the island and it's 8km away from Gaios.

There are buses leaving from Gaios but if you plan to stay in Lakka after midnight, you'll need a taxi. The cost is around to 12/15euros.

Loggos

Loggos,a small fishing village on the east coast of the island and only 5km from Gaios.Best visit in the morning for a quite coffee break or in the afternoon/evening and enjoy your dinner at the traditional and beautiful taverns or your drinks at one of the most romantic spots gazing this wonderful natural bay.

.

Antipaxoi

Boats leave from Gaios for the small island of Antipaxoi.

You can plan your day going quite early to the island and have the choice to stop at the first stop (the Voutoumi) and the second one,Vrika, the main one of the island. If you want to swim to both beaches you have to walk to the other one since the boat can only pick you from either the first or the second one. It takes around 40minutes.
