Milan Bergamo (Orio al Serio) Airport has been a civil airport since 1970.
It became an important airport for passenger travel inl2003 when Ryanair chose it as one of its major hubs. Prior to 2003 the airport served charter flights and a few domestic routes. Now, with the advent of low-cost travel, it is possible to travel to Europe’s primary locations from this airport.

While on transit it's adviseable to visit the the picturesque town of Bergamo and indulge yourself to the Italian culture.Visit the upper town full of monuments and little traditional shops but also the centre of the town with its nice squares, cafes and big department stores. Just outsite the airport you can find the bus stop for the local bus (5euros return ticket) which runs every 20minutes.I would advise to go all the way to the upper town and walk your way down. Make sure you're back in time as time for queues for check in can vary and you can find yourself stressing up to make it on time for boarding. I fly from and to Orio al Serio quite a lot and I've been lucky to pass security within 15min but also lingering in line for over 40min.Give yourself plenty of time and have a nice flight!
Buggage storage: Going outside the airport, go right and at the very end, just across the street, you find the area where bags are stored. You can leave your bags all day there but it is closed after 7pm.
