It’s Feria de Abril but this year is celebrated in May 5-10th May.
When spring comes, Sevillians are filled with excited anticipation as their two most important events of the year take place, Semana Santa and then the Spring Fair, called Feria de Abril.
The Seville Fair takes place just two weeks after Semana Santa, in a huge area in Los Remedios, at the end of calle Asuncion, next to the river. This is a week of serious dancing, drinking, eating and socialising, with late nights. From around midday until early evening - especially on Tuesday, the first official day - Sevilla society parades around the fairground in carriages or on horseback. In the evenings music is heard from every 'caseta' and people dance sevillanas and drink rebujitos.
'Casetas' are the tents where locals celebrate. There are private casetas where only members of the family and their friends can enter and also public casetas for all people. Casetas are owned by prominent Sevillians, organizations, political parties or clubs. Inside the casetas the decoration resembles a house and there's always a bar and a kitchen and bathroom hidden at the back. Food and tapas along with alcohol is served all night under the sound of Flamenco music.
'Rebujito' is a mixture of a strong white wine, called manzanilla, and soda water or Sprite. So it's the light version of manzanilla which goes straight to the head if you drink it plain.Rebujito is usually bought in jugs and then friends share it among them.
Flamenca dresses can be very pricey. Prices start from 120euros and go up to 2.000euros.
(I bought mine in 2012 for 120euros and then managed to sell it in ebay.)
Finding accomodation both during Semana Santa and Feria can be a nightmare so make sure you book well in advance.
