Getting Around:

Taxis:Taxis are cheap and metered and can also be hired by the hour. In this case, taxi fares should be negotiated. In Dubai, for instance, six hours can be charged 300Drh.Few drivers are fluent English speakers and many are more familiar with landmarks than street names so it's better to know a park or a mall or a hotel near your destination.

Shared Taxis:For inter-emirate travel, shared taxis is an option for getting around. They leave when full but are more frequent than buses. They do get cramped and might not be very comfortable but it's all right if it's for short distances.

Public transport:Dubai Abu Dhabi and Sharjah are the only emirates with public bus services.Dubai also has the high-tech Dubai Metro, which links some of the major tourist attractions and malls and it's an inexpensive and efficient way to get around.

Renting a car:It's definately the best way to move from city to city and place of interest.Well-maintained and multi-lane highways link all cities. For off-road driving you need a 4WD car.Daily rates start at about 200Drh for a small manual car such as Toyota Yaris including insurance.
