Sunsine and beaches
in the south!

Nature and picturesque
villages in the north!
Visit the 100-year-old Arehucas Destilleries in Arrucas village!Have a guided tour for free, try all tastes of rum and buy your rum from there as the shop has the best prices on the island. Enjoy your visit and if you happen to be famous you might be allowed to sign on one of the barrrels next to Julio Iglesia’signature.☺
Visit the Cueva Pintada,a cave of great archaeological value, close to the village of Galdar, visit Agaete and Puerto de las Nieves where you take shots of Dedo de Dios(rock formation called God’s finger)and eat fresh Mero fish.
Visit Tejeda village in the centre of the island and see the Roque Nublo. The best view of this impressive Rock is when reaching Culata village(make sure you take the bus that passes through the village). If you have a car, you can stop at the viewpoint for a few relaxing moments. You should also see Teror village for its rural tradition and architecture. Enjoy the spectacular route along the way. An amazing beach at the west side of the island is the Güigüi beach which can be reached by boat(from Puerto Mogan) or by hiking through the mountains from Aldea de san Nicolas village. The beach is highly recommended!
Swim near the Maspalomas Dunes and the amazing beaches of Anfimar and Amadores. Puerto Rico and Playa de Ingles are popular but not the best ones.Suggestion:You can walk from from Puerto Rico to Amadores…a little less that a kilometer and enjoy a paved path along the sea. This walk is highly recommended!Visit the magnificent Puerto Mogan and never leave before the sun sets! Find your way up to the viewpoint for the breathtaking view of the houses, the houses’ terraces actually!
If you are an animal lover you should visit this amazing park. Be ready to spend half a day there at least. There are animal shows starting at 10:30 and the last show is at 16:00. Amazing parrot shows with parrots riding bikes, flying planes or lying on deckchairs with sunglasses on. Incredible shows with dolphins following the instructions of their instructor Jose and his team.Spectacular shows of exotic birds and birds of prey shows.
See the Komodo dragon:Did you know? It’s considered as dangerous as a snake as it can instantly kill you with its saliva. It can also smell its prey from a distance of 10km away.
Walk through the orchid garden: Five minutes visit in the greenhouse can be an amazing relaxing therapy. Meditation music and colourful orchids all around!
Best time to visit: All year round/or winter so as to enjoy spring like weather.(Suggested by me:September/October, these months combine everything…. the island’s not so crowded while the sea is warm to swim and you can enjoy the best temperatures all around the island.)

Go up the three hills in Las Palmas(called ‘riscos’) starting from Risco de San Juan(the one with the cross) and then Risco de San Roque and Risco de San Nicolas….where you can take the best shots of the other two.Walk to the top of San Nicolas and a little further to the other side to admire the view of the whole city.Take amazing shots of the town, the cathedral and relax looking at the ocean. There are buses going up there(like Bus80) but if you enjoy walking, then from the centre up to the hill is a 20minute walk. It’s worth the hike and the amazing shots of the Canarian characteristic colourful houses. Then walk down to Vegueta and San Telmo area.Visit the Cathedral and the Mercado and go shopping in San Telmo.Or take the bus to reach the Puerto area or the Canternas beach. The two sides of the town are well-connected by public transport which run at night as well with the night buses L1 and L2.There late buses around the island as well.
