Costa Rica, a country of unique biodiversity and incredible fauna and flora.
Travelled in January 2016

San Jose

San Jose is situated in 3.839m of altitude and surrounded by mountains so it can get chilly at nights/early mornings. San Pedro and California is where you can go out at night. Always stay on the big buzy streets. Grab a taxi to move around at nights. Avenida Central and Avenida 2nda (Central Avenue 2nd Avenue) most central and always full of people.
Always have the exact money for taxi drivers. I've read cases of false money back. These might be rare cases or just rumours but it's alsways better to be on the safe side.

Beaches
Located along the north pacific coast,Tamarindo is without doubt one of the best beaches in Costa Rica and the most popular tourist destination.Puerto viejo lies on the Atlantic side on the south of the country just a few kilometres from the boarders with Panama. Borders:
Costa Rica: Penas Blancas is located 18.6 kilometers north of La Cruz, and is the northernmost town in Costa Rica. The border building includes a restaurant and a bank where one can change money and or travelers cheques. Official money changers offer their service outside the building. They have their identification badge hanging around their neck. Those money changers can be found on both sides of the border.
Crossing the border can take anywhere from 1-7 hours, less than 2 hours is what is normal. The longest waits happen at times when the hundreds of Nicaraguans that are living in Costa Rica are traveling home for Christmas or Easter Week.
Ticabus, Transnica, Central Line, King Quality and Nica Expresso are bus companies that travel direct between San Jose and Managua. Rental cars may not leave Costa Rica.
Crossing the border to Nicaragua...
The Cordoba is the official currency of Nicaragua, it is divided into 100 centavos. If you do end up exchanging money at the border just know the exchange rate, money exchangers will approach you nonstop. It is not possible to pay with Colones in Nicaragua.
